Just another Southwark Primary weblog
We have been investigating what happens when you add a suffix to adjectives ending in y.
A suffix is letters that are added to the end of a root word, which change its meaning.
We added these suffixes:
er
est
ness
ly
When you add the suffix you need to remember to change the y to an i. The only exception to this is one syllable words like shy.
This week’s prefix is pro.
It means ‘ahead of’.
Have a look at some of my other spelling posts, to remind yourself what a prefix is.
Here are some pro words
proactive
proclaim
procession
You can use Google to find some more. Type in ‘pro prefix’
Good luck!

This week’s spelling rule has been all about the Im prefix.
It means the same as the In prefix. Not.
E.g. Impolite = Not polite
Immature = Not mature
It is added to root words which begin with the letters b, p or m.
Use google to find some words with the Im prefix.
Good Luck
This week we have been looking at the prefix ‘in.’ .g. inaccurate, incorrect
A prefix is letters that go at the start of a root word, which change its meaning.
Try using the internet to find words that use the prefix in. Type ‘prefix in’ into Google.
Hope that helps

Please ignore the annoying adverts. Unfortunately I can’t get rid of them!
Here are our African Masks. Don’t they look fab!
We used a milk bottle as our basic shape. Then we added paper mache layers. Finally we painted them, trying to create symmetrical patterns. We hope you like them.
